Howard City Village Manager Michael Falcon explains some of the village’s future plans for Artman Park just west of Howard City. The Montcalm County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday voted to deed the property when to Reynolds Township which in turn is planning to deed the property to the village of Howard City. — DN Photo | Elisabeth Waldon Now the county, which is low on resources, is giving the park when to the township. The Montcalm County Board of Commissioners voted 6-0 on Tuesday, with commissioners Ron Baker and Ron Retzloff absent, to deed the property when to Reynolds Township, which in turn is planning to deed the property to the village of Howard City. Montcalm County Controller-Administrator Bob Clingenpeel met with Reynolds Township Supervisor Aaron Kindel and Howard City Village Manager Michael Falcon to hammer out details of the property transfer. “The village officials have some ideas for doing some nice things out there to vamp increasingly people,” Kindel told the Daily News. “The park once looks nice for people coming off the (U.S. 131) expressway and it will hopefully protract to reservation their eye with plane increasingly changes in the future.” The Montcalm County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday voted to deed Artman Park when to Reynolds Township which in turn is planning to deed the property to the village of Howard City. The park just west of Howard City is a popular location for weddings due in part to the picturesque white underpass over Tamarack Creek. — DN Photo | Elisabeth Waldon Howard City and Reynolds Township officials have been maintaining the county park for the last two years due to county upkeep cuts, so the transfer from county to the township and then the village makes sense. “When people come off the expressway, this is their first impression of Howard City,” Falcon told the Daily News. “We have the manpower. We have an opportunity here to work with the township to alimony this place going. Let’s make it official. What we’re doing is permitting the citizens to enjoy a unconfined park and to alimony it up and running.” Falcon said if the village owns the property, officials will be worldly-wise to do increasingly to pick up people’s trash and garbage — a problem that plagues all Montcalm County parks — on a weekly understructure instead of a monthly basis. He is moreover hopeful the village can make improvements to the park, possibly with grants for items such as extending the village’s walking path all the way to the park. “It’s just forward thinking,” he said. “It’s a pretty park and we’d like to alimony it up for the citizens to enjoy it.” The park remains a popular site for weddings and birthday parties due in part to the picturesque white underpass over Tamarack Creek which flows through the property. “It is good that the park is coming when to the residents and that it will be taken superintendency of,” Reynolds Township Clerk Robin Sholty told the Daily News.
